Unfortunately there is not much information about Brian Chugg available, although this happens with pre-internet artists. He must have been a well respected artist as he has 21 paintings in public collections including the Burton Museum & Art Gallery & the Museum of Banstaple & North Devon.

We do know he was a painter & writer born in Braunton, Devon and studies at the Bideford School of Art from 1946 – 49 and at the Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts from 1949 – 1950.
Along with his wife Mary, he was one of the founder member of the Exmoor Society, and as an artist & writer he worked for the Guardian Newspaper.
